The Census Road Tour Bus will be coming to Immokalee on February 4, 2010

The bus will station at the Fiesta Food Market parking lot at 106 S. 3rd Street from 3pm until 7pm.

The 2010 Census Portrait of America Road Tour is part of the largest civic outreach and awareness campaign in U.S. history -- stopping and exhibiting at more than 800 events nationwide. The National Road Tour vehicle will be traveling to Super Bowl events in South Florida to motivate America's growing and increasingly diverse population to complete and mail back the 10-question census form when it arrives in mailboxes March 15-17.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     THE Wildlife photography exhibit will be sponsored by the Hendry Foundation, a conservation organization involved in wildlife habitat preservation in southwest Florida the exhibit features the works of photographers: Bobby Holland, Richard Tillis, and Karen Hendry.

The exhibit will be on display from December 7, 2009 to January 29, 2010.

 The Hendry Foundation was founded by the fifth generation descendants of pioneer, Francis Asbury Hendry. Captain F.A. Hendry was a civil was veteran, a Lee County commissioner, and later served in the Florida Ligislature. He also was a founder of the town of Labelle, and Hendry County. The Hendry Foundation's mission includes natural areas preservation as well as water quality projects an in addition, to providing scholarships for deserving students entering related fields of study.

Farm City Week for this year is set for November 20-26.

The first Collier County Farm City BBQ began more than 30 years ago with a similar story. Following a bad crop season in Immokalee, the people of Naples invited the farmers to a barbeque. The following year, the farmers of Immokalee reciprocated the hospitality. The event still rotates from Naples to Immokalee annually.

Planning is underway for the Fifth Annual Chamber Golf Tournament, set for November 14th, at the Del Webb course at Ave Maria.  Application forms for teams and sponsorships will be going out shortly, according to Tom Patterson, Chair of this year’s event.   “We hope everyone will take a positive look at this annual event to help raise funds for the Chamber and sponsor a team, tee/green sign, or some other form of sponsorship.” Patterson said, “and by playing at Ave Maria we hope to attract more teams from the Naples area.”
