Collier County Heritage Trail

A meeting to share the progress of the Collier County Heritage Trail will be held in Immokalee, Friday, September 11, 2009,  starting at 2:30 PM, at Hodges University.  The Heritage Trail is an initiative to link the community to its local history and heritage, from the Naples Pier to Immokalee, and all areas in between.

The Collier County Heritage Trail is a project of Naples Backyard History and the educational arm of Naples Cultural Landscape Fund of the Community Foundation of Collier County.   It’s a community effort and is aided by the support of community leaders as well as local businesses.

Two other meetings are also planned, the first being in the Community Room at Rookery Bay at 8:30 a.m. on September 9, and the second September 10 at 2:30 p.m. in the Joe Donahue Community Room at Hodges University Naples Campus on Northbrooke Drive.

Following these meetings the Collier County Heritage Trail, and its supporting website, will soon follow and promote and safeguard the history of approximately 28 key locations spanning Collier County’s 2,025 square miles of coastal and inland areas, including Naples, Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve, Big Cypress National Preserve, Everglades City, Tamiami Trail, sites along State Road 29, and its northernmost point Immokalee. Click here for more information.
